Cea de-a 94-a ediţie a galei premiilor Oscar va avea loc pe 27 martie 2022. Nominalizările au fost anunțate în cadrul unei prezentări online de către actorii Tracee Ellis Ross şi Leslie Jordan. Westernul Netflix „The Power of the Dog” a primit cele mai multe nominalizări, respectiv 12, iar ”Dune”, regizat de Denis Villeneuve, 10.
Printre filmele cu cele mai mari şanse să câştige mult râvnita statuetă se numără „Dune”, filmul epic SF al lui Denis Villeneuve, „Belfast”, povestea autobiografică a lui Kenneth Branagh despre maturitate, „The Power of the Dog„, westernul Netflix al lui Jane Campion sau mult comentatul „Don’t Look Up” al aceleiaşi platforme. Totodată, nu este exclus ca pe listă să-şi facă loc şi favoritul BAFTA, „No Time to Die„, al 25-lea din seria James Bond.
Marele favorit al ediției este ”The Power of the Dog” al lui Jane Campion, care ar putea deveni a treia femeie din istoria Oscarurilor care să câștige ”Cel mai bun regizor”. Filmul japonez ”Drive My Car” este preferat la categoria ”Film internațional”, dar criticii cred și că va deveni al șaptelea film în altă limbă decât engleza care să fie nominalizat la ”Cel mai bun film”.
